about

After a period of lockdown with more use of social media/messaging than I was used to (or really comfortable with) a brief window of freedom opened, which of course meant extensive in-person socialising. This in itself was joyous but also overwhelming when combined with the extra online engagement that had become normal. I found myself unable to focus on anything remotely constructive or creative so I just decided a break was needed…from everything. I found an old poetry book my brother Adam had written many years ago and his poem, Incommunicado, seemed to suit my mood perfectly. I surfed, read and wrote. I recorded this song (and others on the album) during this period in my home studio and then sent the tracks to Tim Kevin for embellishment and mixing. He also built a nice sonic landscape for the songs to live in. For some reason a self-imposed period alone felt a lot more constructive than a forced lockdown, for me at least.
